A four day weekend and finally some time to catch our breath and kick back after a very busy work period. We popped out this morning to do a little shopping and whilst out and about came across a great cheese stall called The Cheese Boutique. It is located at The Windlesham Garden Centre, London Rd, Windlesham, Surrey GU20 6LL and the stall is there on Fridays.
The stall had an amazing range of cheeses from across Europe. There were cheese delights from France, Italy, Spain and the UK. We sampled and bought some Lincolnshire Poacher, a cheese I had never heard of, and enjoyed its delicate somewhat nutty flavour. In texture it is a bit like a cheddar and would make an interesting addition to any cheese board. We also bought a small soft goats cheese which is just crying out for some crusty French bread. Perhaps that might be an idea for dinner tonight, a sort of indoor picnic, French style. As the French would say du Pain, du Vin, du Fromage! After all, long weekends should be a little indulgent.
I notice that The Cheese Boutique also have market stalls in Salisbury and Petersfield so check out their website: www.thecheeseboutique.co.uk for further details. The other interesting thing about this company is you can order cheese online and get it delivered, which seems like an eminently civilised idea. It is sold in 250g, 500g, 750g or 1kg weights. They will even create a tiered ‘cheesecake’ for special occasions. There are a couple of good recipes within their blog page including one for fresh Pesto Genovese which I might have to try very soon! What appeals to me most about The Cheese Boutique is that they are selling different cheeses you won’t find in the supermarket. They have done a lot of research and discovered the best artisan cheeses that Europe has to offer. So for all you cheese connoisseurs check them out soon.
